Effraeti's RP

One Woman, Two Timelines, Two Destinies.

An Intro to Effy

I have been playing World of Warcraft for about two years.  Whereas that is nowhere near how long many have been playing (since the game has been out for about 7 years now), I do feel I have picked up a good deal of knowledge.  I have played most of the classes to 85, I have played every position in a raid setting, and I have recently been getting very into the lore.  I have also in years past played a number of other MMORPGs including Asheron’s Call, Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer, Guild Wars, EVE Online (very briefly), Star Trek Online and now World of Warcraft.

The fascinating lore Blizzard has created for WoW – more extensive than any other game I have played previously – led to my brilliant idea of creating a pair of toons (since I have two accounts) on an Role Playing server.  It was an early Saturday morning, and nothing exciting was going on, so I started a little Draenei Paladin and a Night Elf Priest.  A friend of mine logged on, and thought my idea was pretty neat.

So, he and I both played on Wyrmrest Accord for a number of months.

Although I had been playing WoW for a while and I had played MMOs before, I had never RP’d.  It seemed a logical step for me, considering before I ever touched an MMO I was an avid fantasy reader (and still am).  Fantasy worlds have always held my interest, albeit in books or single-player games or writing.

Yes, at times when I can devote the effort, I fancy myself a writer.

Since creating this Blog, I have moved back to raiding with my new guild, Undying Resolution on Elune.

I enjoyed my time on Wyrmrest Accord, but I realized I am not very good at starting or jumping into RP events.  I spent more of my time on WRA eavesdropping on RP’s in progress, working on character-appropriate outfits for my toons and writing out Description blurbs for them with the RP addons I was playing with (which is where I came up with the format for my Character Pages).

Add to that the realization that I REALLY MISSED RAIDING (after reading about all of my fellow Bloggers’ raiding adventures) and coming across a random LF-Raider announcement on Twitter one night, and it was time for me to find my characters new homes again.

I am very happy in my guild, and it has not stifled my Blogging.  In fact, the addition of Transmogrification in patch 4.3 means I can play with outfits on ANY of my toons, including my raider, Effraeti, and use those outfits in more practical situations then standing around in Stormwind while NOT RP’ing.

Even though the primary focus of my Blog is still RP (in the form of short stories and outfits and accompanying screenshots), I have a tendency to ramble about whatever comes to mind.

So please enjoy your stay here, perusing some of my thoughts and ideas.  🙂

P.S. = Yes…  I “killed” Effy…  But only one half of Effy!

Kudos, by the way on the white ribbon campaign. Nothing, absolutely nothing! justifies violence against women.

Hello Effy! (And yes, I do want to call you Effie Trinket, but that is the Hunger Games and this is WoW stuff).

My name is Alex C. Barberi. I have been reading the articles on your blog and they are great to read! Thanks for writing them. I am also getting my blog, Questers Anonymous, started up. On my blog I will be giving my first impressions of the MMOs I try out so that I can give players a feel for the MMOs before they download them. WoW was actually the first MMO I ever played, but I am starting to branch out. 🙂

Since your blog is well-written and has good content, I would like to put your blog in my “Blogroll” which I am about to add to my blog. I was also hoping you could review the content on my blog and consider adding my blog to your blogroll as well.

    Let me know!

    Thanks,
    Alex C. Barberi
